Stay tuned for more events through 2014!
Forty-six ships from 12 nations sailed into Baltimore to launch Star-Spangled Sailabration. The week included free tours of the vessels, an air show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the premiere of a new symphony “Overture for 2012″ and landside festivities.
Sailabration was the national launch of the War of 1812 bicentennial and the kick-off of a three-year commemoration in Maryland. The Chesapeake Campaign, an 18-month traveling festival featuring re-enactors, hands-on educational activities and interactive fun will begin in the spring 2013. And all eyes will be on Maryland when we welcome back our Navy and tall ship partners to celebrate the bicentennial of the writing of the Star-Spangled Banner with Star-Spangled Spectacular in September 2014.
Thank you for visiting the Star-Spangled State. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2013 and 2014!
