Star-Spangled Spectacular Air Show

The Star-Spangled Air Show features high-precision aviation acts from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard and others over a two hour period between 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on September 13 and 14.

Blue Angels Demo Team

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels demo team is featured. The air show takes place over the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River. Public viewing sites along the Middle Branch are limited, and recreational boating traffic is restricted inside the air show “box” before, during and after the air show. Buoys and Marine Law Enforcement agencies will help guide boaters to safe viewing areas outside the air show box. These designated viewing areas are quite “spectacular.”

Public Viewing Locations

You can experience the Air Show from many spots in and around Baltimore City. There are several pre-designated public viewing sites, including Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, the grounds of Port Covington/Walmart and the Canton Waterfront Park. All viewing areas are free of charge.

(Aircraft take offs and landings can be observed, along with a display of military and historic aircraft, the chance to obtain an autograph from a Blue Angel, enjoy a festival meal and visit the Glenn L. Martin Aviation Museum all at Martin State Airport, Baltimore County. Martin State Airport hosts the 2 day festival Sept. 13 and 14 from 10 am – 5 pm. Parking is free- see Martin State Airport section of website).

Baltimore City hosts the air show two days in a row on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept 14. After the success of Star-Spangled Sailabration in June 2012, it is difficult to predict the size of crowds at each viewing site. Inside high rise office and residential buildings with sight lines to the Middle Branch remains a very popular option.

Several less-crowded public parks provide “peek-a-boo” views of the performance (Riverside Park, Cherry Hill Park, Reedbird Island Park, Garrett Park).
